How do I connect an integration?

  1. Open Integrations from the Practice menu
  2. Find the integration
  3. Click Connect
  4. Complete the authorisation process
  5. Configure settings
  6. Test connection

Why do integrations disconnect?

Common reasons:

ReasonSolution
Token expiredRe-authorise (Xero: 60 days, MYOB: varies)
Password changedRe-authenticate
Permissions revokedRe-connect and grant access
Subscription lapsedRenew external subscription

Can I use multiple accounting systems?

No. Connect either Xero or MYOB, not both simultaneously. This prevents:

  • Duplicate transactions
  • Conflicting data
  • Reconciliation issues

To switch: Disconnect current system, then connect new one.

How do I check integration status?

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations
  2. View status for each:
    • ✅ Connected: Working normally
    • ⚠️ Warning: Needs attention
    • ❌ Disconnected: Re-connect required
  3. Click integration for detailed status

Xero

How do I connect Xero?

  1. Open Integrations from the Practice menu
  2. Click Connect on the Xero card
  3. Log in to your Xero account
  4. Select your organisation
  5. Click Allow Access
  6. Return to Praxi

What does Xero sync?

DataDirectionNotes
InvoicesPraxi → XeroIssued invoices only
PaymentsPraxi → XeroWhen recorded
ContactsPraxi → XeroClient details
Credit notesPraxi → XeroWhen voided

Xero → Praxi sync is not supported (Praxi is source of truth).

How often does Xero sync?

Sync TypeFrequency
ScheduledConfigurable (15 min, hourly)
ManualOn-demand

Configure in Xero → Settings → Sync Frequency.

Why isn't my invoice in Xero?

Check:

  1. ✅ Invoice status is Issued (not Draft)
  2. ✅ Xero connection is active
  3. ✅ Account mapping complete
  4. ✅ No sync errors in log

View Xero → Sync Log for error details.

How do I fix "Xero connection expired"?

Xero tokens expire every 60 days:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Xero
  2. Click Re-authorise
  3. Log in to Xero
  4. Click Allow Access
  5. Connection restored

Set a calendar reminder for re-authorisation.

How do accounts map to Xero?

Invoices sync to your Xero organisation's default accounts and tax settings — custom account mapping isn't configurable in Praxi yet. Review your first few synced invoices in Xero to confirm the treatment is right. See Xero Setup.

MYOB

How do I connect MYOB?

  1. Open Integrations from the Practice menu
  2. Click Connect on the MYOB card
  3. Log in to my.MYOB
  4. Select your company file
  5. Enter company file credentials (if prompted)
  6. Click Allow Access

What MYOB versions are supported?

VersionSupport
MYOB Business✅ Full
MYOB AccountRight✅ Full
MYOB Essentials⚠️ Limited (no API)
MYOB AccountRight Classic❌ Not supported

MYOB Business (cloud) recommended for best integration.

Why does MYOB need company file credentials?

MYOB company files have separate security:

  1. my.MYOB login: Accesses MYOB platform
  2. Company file login: Accesses specific company data

Both are required and stored securely.

How do I fix "Company file not accessible"?

  1. Verify MYOB subscription is active
  2. Check company file is online (not local-only)
  3. Re-enter company file credentials
  4. Ensure no one has exclusive access in MYOB

MYOB sync is slower than Xero - why?

Both MYOB and Xero use scheduled sync, but MYOB's API architecture is inherently batch-oriented:

AspectMYOBXero
Sync typeScheduledScheduled
Minimum interval15 minutes15 minutes
API styleBatchBatch (with webhook support)

MYOB operations may take longer due to company file locking and its batch processing architecture.

  2. Under Yours, click Connect on the Google row
  3. Log in to Google account
  4. Grant calendar permissions

Outlook and Apple Calendar can show your Praxi appointments by subscribing to your calendar feed: open Settings → Calendar sync, copy your feed URL, then add it in Outlook (Add calendar → From Internet) or Apple Calendar (File → New Calendar Subscription). Subscribed calendars are read-only and refresh on the calendar app's own schedule.
