Lost Passkey or Device
Lost the phone, computer or security key you use to sign in? You can get back in with any other method you've set up.
Step 1: Sign In Another Way
If you still have a passkey, choose Continue with passkey. It may be on a second device, or synced through iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager or 1Password. Follow your browser's prompt to use a phone or another device.
After your first sign-in step has been accepted, choose Can't use your passkey? on the two-factor screen. Get back in shows the methods available for your account:
| You still have | Choose |
|---|---|
| Another passkey | A passkey on another device |
| Your authenticator app | Your authenticator app |
| A saved recovery code | A recovery code |
If you use an authenticator without a passkey, the link is Other ways to sign in. Only methods returned for your account appear. A recovery code works once; use one of the unused codes you saved when you set up sign-in.
A browser that cannot use passkeys can still use another method shown for your account. To use a passkey, open Praxi in a current version of Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
Step 2: Replace the Lost Method
Once you are signed in, go to Settings > Security to manage your sign-in methods. Add a passkey you can access, then remove the passkey for the lost device. Follow the verification prompt when adding or removing a method.
See Passkeys for the full steps. If you used a recovery code, review your remaining codes in Security and store them somewhere safe, away from your devices.
If You Have No Method Left
Choose How resets work from Get back in for this guidance.
Practice team members: contact your practice owner. They confirm who you are, then use Reset sign-in. The reset removes your passkeys, authenticator and recovery codes and signs you out everywhere. Next time you sign in, you set up a new sign-in method, such as a passkey or authenticator app.
Praxi Portal clients: contact your practice. A portal sign-in reset removes your passkeys, authenticator and recovery codes and signs you out everywhere. Your practice may require you to set up a new sign-in method when you return.
You cannot use a removed passkey or an old recovery code after a reset. Keep your password available so you can sign in again.
Why Praxi Won't Let You Remove Your Last Method
If your practice requires two-factor authentication, add a new method before removing your last one. This helps you keep a way to sign in.
If you notice a sign-in change you did not make, contact your practice owner or, if you use Praxi Portal, your practice.
