Connect your Twilio account to Praxi
By this point you have:
- A Twilio account with at least one approved Australian regulatory bundle.
- A Standard API Key Secret saved somewhere safe.
- An Australian number in your Twilio account (or a number you're about to port).
If any of those are missing, jump back to Getting started.
Open the BYO connect form
- Sign in to Praxi as a user with the Practice Owner role.
- Navigate to Settings → AI Phone → Numbers.
- If no Twilio account is connected, the page shows the Bring-Your-Own-Twilio onboarding accordion and a Connect your Twilio account button. Click it.
Fill in the form
| Field | What to paste |
|---|---|
| Account SID | The AC... value from Twilio Console → Account. |
| API Key SID | The SK... value from the API Key row you created. |
| API Key Secret | The one-time Secret shown when the key was created. |
| Region | Choose the region you selected in Twilio -- Australia (au1) for Australian practices (United States, Ireland, Brazil, and Japan are also available). |
Praxi validates each field as you type:
- The Account SID and API Key SID are checked against their format regex.
- The Secret minimum length is enforced.
- On submit, Praxi calls the Twilio API once to verify the credentials before saving anything to the database.
If validation fails, the error message explains which field is wrong. The most common causes are:
- The Account SID and the API Key SID belong to different Twilio accounts.
- The Secret was copied with leading/trailing whitespace.
- The key was created as Main instead of Standard.
After successful connection
The Numbers page reloads to show:
- A connection banner with the masked Account SID and a "validated" timestamp.
- An Import number button.
Click Import number to pull the numbers you've bought in Twilio Console into Praxi. Each imported number can then be assigned a routing flow.
Once at least one number is imported the rest of the Practice Phone Suite becomes available:
- AI Receptionist settings for opening hours, forwarding and voicemail.
- Routing for visual call flows.
- Softphone in the top navigation for outbound calls and inbound pickup.
- Voicemails and Recordings for captured audio.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect at any time from the same Numbers page (the Disconnect button in the connection banner). Disconnect:
- Stops Praxi from making any further calls to your Twilio account.
- Removes the stored credentials.
- Leaves your Twilio account and numbers untouched — they remain on your Twilio billing relationship.
Numbers and call history previously imported into Praxi stay in your tenant database (subject to the standard 7-year audit retention). Re-connecting later will surface them again.
