Client Tools Overview
Client Tools is the unified place to prescribe between-session work: forms, worksheets, outcome measures, safety plans, body charts, mood trackers, guided practices, learning modules, and multi-step programmes. One library. One allocate flow. One completion experience for the client.
Specialised systems still handle each kind of content under the hood — signed forms stay signed, outcome measures still support clinical scoring, and Medicare claims still reconcile where applicable. You no longer hunt across separate Homework, Forms, Worksheets, and Learning menus for the same job.
Why it exists
Before Client Tools, Praxi had several fragmented systems for the same primitive: prescribed content → client completes → response captured. Practitioners had to remember whether a thought record lived under Worksheets, Homework, or Forms; whether a PHQ-9 was under Assessments or Forms; whether a body chart was a spatial tool or a diary entry.
Client Tools collapses that into one prescribable surface. Practitioners pick from one library. Clients complete in My Plan. Audit trails and clinical records keep their existing safeguards.
Library kinds (what the client does)
The library labels things by what the client does, not which internal system stores the row. Search still recognises older words such as “worksheet” or “assessment”.
| Kind (practitioner) | Client portal label | What the client does |
|---|---|---|
| Forms | Form | Fill it in and send it back (includes worksheets) |
| Measures | Questionnaire | Answer a scored questionnaire that tracks change over time |
| Trackers | Tracker | Log something regularly (mood, sleep, food, pain) |
| Practices | Practice | Do a guided activity (breathing, meditation, grounding) |
| Modules | Learning | Work through a multi-section psychoeducation course |
| Programmes | Programme | Follow an ordered package of activities |
Care Pathways sit above Client Tools in the navigation — a pathway is a sequence of tool assignments across weeks, not a kind of library item. See Care Pathways.
How older concepts map
| Older concept | Where it lives now |
|---|---|
| Worksheets | Client Tools → Forms |
| Homework | The act of allocating (not a content type) |
| Intake / consent forms | Client Tools → Forms |
| Outcome measures | Client Tools → Measures / Questionnaires |
| Safety plans | Client Tools → Forms (crisis-gated) |
| Body charts, genograms | Client Tools (annotate on a form canvas) |
| Mood / pain diaries | Client Tools → Trackers |
| Guided exercises | Client Tools → Practices |
| Learning modules | Client Tools → Modules (PRO+) |
| Home exercise packages | Client Tools → Programmes |
What did not change
- Signed form submissions remain immutable for clinical audit.
- Medicare-billable assessment sessions continue to support claiming workflows.
- Reminders, due dates, and portal completion still work for assigned work.
- Learning modules still require a PRO or ENTERPRISE subscription — see Learning Modules.
The four delivery modes
Every assignment has a delivery mode. See Delivery Modes for when each wins.
- Practitioner-only — you complete the tool; the client never sees it.
- Practitioner-led — you fill it while narrating; the client watches a read-only mirror.
- Client-self-serve — the client completes it in the portal on their own time (default for most worksheets and trackers).
- Collaborative-live — both parties edit with lock indicators so only one person types in a field at a time.
Delivery mode is locked once the client first responds, to preserve signature integrity under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999. To change mode, clone the assignment and resend.
Where to find it
Practitioner web
Open Client Tools in the main navigation (/clinician-tools).
- Library — browse and allocate templates (Forms, Measures, Trackers, Practices, Modules, Programmes).
- Inbox — track what you have already assigned (status, reminders, overdue).
You can also allocate from a client’s record (including a Learning tab that
opens the picker on modules for that client). Bookmarks to older /learning and
/forms paths redirect into Client Tools.
Practitioner iOS
Client Tools appears in the practitioner app navigation. Legacy deep-links for forms, assessments, and tasks continue to work during the deprecation window.
Client portal
Clients use a two-door wellbeing model:
- My Plan — everything you assigned (plus tasks they add themselves), ordered by what is due next.
- Library — guided practices they can use any time without an assignment.
- Check-in — wellness / mood tracking.
They do not need to know the difference between internal tool systems. See the client-facing guides under the portal help centre (My Plan & Library).
When you allocate
- Choose a template from the library (or open the picker from the client).
- Pick delivery mode, optional due date, and optional reminders.
- Optionally add a short message for the client — shown as “From your practitioner” on their plan item. Private notes stay private and are never sent to the client.
- Confirm allocate.
