Secure Messaging (Providers lane)

Secure messaging lets your practice exchange referrals, letters and other clinical correspondence with GPs, specialists and other providers through Australian secure messaging networks (HealthLink and Medical-Objects).

Secure messages live in the Providers lane of Messages. The lane appears only when your practice uses secure provider messaging.

Set up your practice's account

Each practice connects its own secure messaging account. Praxi does not share an account between practices, so your provider messages are yours alone.

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Secure messaging.
  2. Follow the steps to connect your HealthLink or Medical-Objects account.

You need permission to change practice settings. If the Providers lane says secure messaging isn't set up, someone who can configure it sees Set up secure messaging. Full setup steps: Healthcare Messaging.

Read and acknowledge

  1. Open Messages and select the Providers lane.
  2. Open a conversation to read the message and any attachments.
  3. If the sender asked for acknowledgement, the message shows Acknowledgement needed. Select Acknowledge to confirm you have read it.

Where your practice requires approval, an acknowledgement shows Sent for approval until it is approved. The provider is not told until then.

Send a provider message

  1. In the Providers lane, select New → New provider message.
  2. Choose the recipient from your practice's provider address book.
  3. Add a subject and message, then send.

You can also reply from an open provider conversation. Sending needs an active account and permission to send provider messages.

Use secure messaging, not ordinary email, to send clinical documents to

other providers. :::

Triage

Provider conversations support the same triage as the rest of Messages: assign, star, snooze, labels, mark read or unread, and archive. See Messages.
