Using Note Assistance

In-Line Suggestions

As you type, AI suggests completions in real-time:

  1. Open a clinical note and begin typing in any section
  2. After a brief pause, suggestions appear in grey text ahead of your cursor
  3. Review the suggestion to ensure it matches your clinical intent
  4. Press Tab to accept the full suggestion
  5. Alternatively, press Esc to dismiss and continue typing your own text
  6. If you continue typing, the suggestion automatically updates based on your new input

Suggestion Panel

The suggestion panel offers context-aware options. Suggestions appear as highlighted text blocks that you can accept, modify, or reject individually. All AI suggestions require human approval before being incorporated into the note (all AI suggestions require your explicit confirmation before being added).

  1. Open the Suggestions panel
  2. View suggested content for each section
  3. Click to accept, or edit the suggestion before inserting
  4. Reject suggestions you do not need

Section-by-Section Assistance

AI helps with each note section:

SectionAI Assistance
Presenting issuesSummarise from intake/previous notes
Session contentStructure from transcription/markers
ObservationsMental status prompts
AssessmentRecords your stated assessment only
PlanRecords the plan you stated only

For the Assessment, Diagnosis, Risk and Plan sections, the AI records only what you said or wrote. If you did not state it, the section reads "not discussed". The AI does not add a diagnosis, risk rating, formulation or treatment of its own.

Smart Templates

Template Auto-Fill

When creating notes from appointments:

  1. Select note template
  2. AI pre-fills sections:
    • Client name and details

  3. Review and complete remaining sections

Custom Prompts

Create custom AI prompts for your practice:

If using Voice Transcription:

  1. Complete session with transcription
  2. Click Generate Note

What AI Extracts

From transcription, AI identifies and structures:

  • Presenting concerns discussed
  • Interventions used and client responses
  • Clinically significant direct quotes (preserved verbatim)
  • Homework and tasks agreed
  • Risk and safety content as it was discussed
  • Topic changes and session flow
  • Assessment results mentioned during the session
  • Treatment goal progress

The AI uses a self-verification process that flags any content it is uncertain about with a [VERIFY] marker, prompting you to confirm accuracy.

What You Must Add

Always add manually:

  • Clinical observations (non-verbal cues, body language)
  • Risk assessment based on your professional judgement
  • Your clinical formulation and reasoning
  • Treatment modifications and rationale
  • Supervision notes (if applicable)

Style learning builds progressively as you review and edit AI-generated notes. The more you use and refine suggestions, the better they match your voice.

  1. Start with templates - AI works best when you use structured note templates (SOAP, DAP, etc.)
  2. Review carefully - Never sign a note without thoroughly reviewing all AI-generated content
  3. Provide feedback - Use the thumbs up/down buttons to help the AI learn your preferences
  4. Use for first drafts - Let AI handle the initial structure, then refine with your clinical expertise
  5. Maintain your voice - Edit suggestions to sound like your natural clinical writing style
  6. Add your observations - AI cannot capture non-verbal cues, body language, or your clinical intuition
  7. Check clinical accuracy - Verify that AI suggestions accurately reflect what occurred in the session
  8. Use keyboard shortcuts - Learn the shortcuts (Tab, Esc, Ctrl+Space) for faster workflow
