Getting Started
- The therapist sends an invitation link to both partners from the Praxi web app.
- Each partner downloads Praxi Couples from the App Store.
- Open the invitation link to create an account and link to the shared couple profile.
- Complete onboarding and set up biometric unlock for quick access.
separate credentials. The couple profile links both accounts while maintaining individual privacy boundaries. :::
Navigation
The app uses five tabs: Home, Coaching (Sage), Journal, Partner, and Settings.
Subscription Plans
The Couples App is free to download with three subscription plans, managed through the App Store:
| Plan | Adds |
|---|---|
| Individual | Full exercise library, unlimited Sage chat, assessments, conflict log, voice journal |
| Couple | Everything in Individual, plus partner linking, shared journal, and paired homework |
| Couple Plus | Everything in Couple, plus Mirror Mode, therapist connection, and priority support |
Free accounts include mood tracking and a private journal. The plan requirements for each feature are noted throughout this page.
Partner Linking (Couple plan)
One partner sends an invitation to the other. The invited partner can accept the link via an invitation code or by scanning a QR code. Once linked, both partners can access shared features such as exercises, gratitude logs, and shared journalling. Partner linking requires the Couple plan or above.
AI Coaching with Sage
Sage is the app's AI relationship coaching companion. Unlike the clinical AI agents in the Practitioner App, Sage uses a warm, conversational tone focused on relationship growth rather than clinical advice.
- Chat interface -- Stream-based conversations with Sage, delivered token by token for a natural feel.
- Exercise suggestions -- Sage can suggest relevant exercises via rich inline cards.
- Crisis detection -- If Sage detects a safety concern, a safety banner appears immediately with links to crisis resources.
- Mirror Mode (Couple Plus plan) -- A guided partner communication practice tool. You practise conversations with an AI-modelled partner persona while Sage provides coaching suggestions alongside. Sessions run for 15 minutes and end with a debrief summarising insights.
- Quick prompts -- Suggested conversation starters for first-time users.
prompts and reflections. It is not a therapist and does not provide clinical treatment. For clinical support, contact your therapist directly. :::
Relationship Tools
- Mood tracking -- Daily mood check-ins with trend visualisation using charts, tag-based categorisation, and privacy indicators ("Only you" or "Shared").
- Gratitude journal -- Record things you appreciate about your partner. Shared entries are visible to both partners.
- Conflict log (Individual plan) -- Track conflict patterns with resolution notes to discuss in therapy sessions.
Exercises
Therapists assign structured exercises from the Praxi library. You receive a notification when a new exercise is assigned. Browse the exercise library, view detailed instructions, and complete exercises individually or together. Exercise types include communication practice, conflict resolution, attachment exploration, and appreciation exercises.
Journaling
The app provides three types of journaling:
- Private journal -- Personal reflections visible only to you (free).
- Shared journal (Couple plan) -- Entries visible to both partners for collaborative reflection.
- Voice journal (Individual plan) -- Record audio entries that are transcribed for easy review.
Paired Homework (Couple plan)
Your therapist can assign paired homework tasks that both partners complete. View instructions, track completion status, and submit responses for the therapist to review before the next session.
Therapist Connection (Couple Plus plan)
Connect the app with your treating therapist. The therapist can access shared data (exercises, goals, assessments) but individual data remains private unless you choose to share it. To message your therapist, use the Praxi client portal or contact the practice directly.
Assessments (Individual plan)
Complete relationship assessments assigned by your therapist and view results. Assessments may include standardised measures for relationship satisfaction, communication quality, and emotional connection.
Privacy and Safety
- Individual data (mood logs, private journal entries) is private by default.
- Shared data (check-ins, exercises, goals) is visible to both partners and the therapist.
- Either partner can contact the therapist individually at any time.
- A Quick Exit button is always accessible for immediate app closure.
- Safety resources are accessible from the toolbar on every screen, including emergency contact numbers.
- Privacy indicators clearly label what is shared and what is private.
communications are visible to both partners. Under the secrets model, individual messages remain private. Ask your therapist which model applies. :::
