In-Session Tools
Praxi provides tools that practitioners can use during clinical sessions, accessible from the session interface.
Session Timer
The session timer starts automatically when you begin a session and displays the elapsed time. A notification appears when you reach the scheduled end time, and time is recorded for billing.
Voice Transcription
Real-time voice transcription captures the session conversation and converts it to text. The transcript serves as the basis for AI-generated clinical notes.
- Requires client consent before activation
- Supports speaker identification to distinguish between practitioner and client
- Works with couples and group sessions (PRO or ENTERPRISE subscription required for multi-speaker)
For setup instructions, see Voice Transcription Setup.
Live Clinical Guidance
During a telehealth or phone session, Praxi's clinical assistant can show live reflection prompts drawn from the transcript and your documented plan:
- Reflective questions grounded in what was said
- Homework check reminders for previously assigned tasks
- Prompts about which documented goals have come up
- On-demand questions via Ask Praxi
Live guidance does not assess risk or recommend interventions or assessments.
For details, see Live Clinical Guidance.
Evidence Search
Search PubMed for peer-reviewed research without leaving the session -- from the Evidence tab in the planning phase, or the Evidence toolbar button during an active session. Filter by date range and article type, copy APA-formatted citations, attach citations to your draft note from the transcript, and save searches to share with colleagues.
For details, see Evidence Search.
Note Generation
After a session with voice transcription enabled, Praxi generates a draft clinical note using your selected template structure (SOAP, DAP, BIRP, or Progress Note). The default template is chosen based on your profession. The note is populated with content extracted from the transcript.
- Notes are generated as drafts for practitioner review
- The practitioner must review, edit, and sign the note
- Unsupported claims are marked with [VERIFY] tags for review
- The draft records only what was said. It does not add a diagnosis, risk rating or treatment the practitioner did not state
practitioner is responsible for reviewing accuracy, adding clinical judgement, and signing the note. Best practice is to sign notes within 24 hours of the session. Your practice may configure a signing deadline in the settings. :::
Dictation Mode
Dictation mode is a single-speaker recording option designed for when the practitioner is writing notes alone (not during a live client session). It supports inline voice commands for hands-free operation, such as inserting headings or formatting text.
To use dictation mode, select Dictation as the recording mode when starting a transcription.
Voice Biomarker Analysis
The voice biomarker panel provides supplementary information by analysing voice patterns during a recorded session. It displays indicators such as valence (emotional tone), arousal level, and prosody features (speech rate, pitch variation, pause patterns) over time. Voice biomarker analysis requires a PRO or ENTERPRISE subscription and separate AI processing consent from the client.
information only and must not be used for clinical diagnosis. Always rely on your clinical judgement and validated assessment tools. :::
Risk
Praxi does not analyse session content for risk and does not raise automated risk alerts. Assess risk yourself and record it in the client's risk register and your note. Crisis resources are in the Emergency Hub.
Homework Assignment
Assign tasks and exercises to clients during the wrap-up phase of a session:
- When you finish recording and move to the Wrap Up phase, the post-session actions panel appears
- Click Assign Homework from the quick actions grid
- Select from existing homework templates or create a custom task
- Set a due date
- The homework appears in the client's portal for completion
Transcript Editing
After a transcription completes, you can review and correct the transcript before generating a clinical note:
- Edit segment text -- Correct any transcription errors in individual segments
- Swap speaker labels -- Reassign a segment to a different speaker if the system attributed it incorrectly
- Bulk swap speakers -- Reassign multiple segments at once when speaker labels are consistently swapped
- Exclude segments -- Mark segments as excluded from AI analysis (e.g., off-topic conversation or administrative discussion)
All transcript edits are tracked in an audit trail for compliance purposes.
Therapy Quality Growth Dashboard
The therapy quality dashboard provides practitioner-only growth feedback based on session analytics. It is designed as a professional development tool and is never accessible to practice managers or owners.
- Competency scoring across five domains: therapeutic alliance, assessment skills, intervention delivery, session management, and risk management
- MI fidelity metrics including reflection-to-question ratio and spirit composite scores
- CBT fidelity metrics including technique counts and Socratic questioning
- Longitudinal trends showing your progress over time
- Benchmark comparisons showing anonymised percentile rankings (opt-in only)
- Supervision preparation summaries with discussion points for supervisor meetings
- Share with supervisor -- Selectively share specific session analyses with your supervisor
The growth dashboard requires a PRO or ENTERPRISE subscription.
