Care Pathways
Care Pathways are structured, multi-week therapeutic programmes you enrol a client in to organise homework, assessments, exercises, psychoeducation, and reflection tasks between sessions. Each pathway follows a template with a fixed sequence of steps and an estimated duration, so a full programme — for example CBT for anxiety — unfolds on a predictable schedule instead of being assembled session by session.
Who Can Use It
Care Pathways is available to clinical roles: practitioners, behaviour support practitioners, supervisors, interns, and clinical governance. Practice owners who are not also practitioners do not see Care Pathways — enrolling clients is a clinical action.
Pathway Templates
Navigate to Care Pathways from the sidebar to browse the template library. Filter by category or use the Search pathways… box. Template categories include:
- CBT — Anxiety and CBT — Depression
- ACT — Values
- DBT Skills
- Gottman — Communication
- EFT — Attachment
- Better Access
Each template card shows the estimated duration in weeks and the number of steps.
Templates come from the built-in library. There is no in-app template editor — contact Praxi support if your practice needs a custom pathway template. :::
Enrolling a Client
- On the Care Pathways page, find the template and click Enrol Client
- In the Enrol in Pathway dialog, search for and select the client
- Optionally set a Start date
- Optionally choose Link to treatment goal — completing pathway steps will then advance that goal's progress automatically
- Click Confirm Enrolment
You can also start from the client's record: open the Pathways tab and click Enrol in a pathway — the client is pre-selected.
Tracking Progress
The client's Pathways tab lists each enrolment with a status badge (Active, Paused, Completed, Cancelled), a progress bar showing steps completed, and the start date. Expand an enrolment to see its steps.
Each step has a scheduled date and a status. On actionable steps you can:
- Complete — mark the step done. Where the next step is gated on the previous one, it unlocks automatically
- Skip — skip a step that isn't relevant; skipped steps don't block the pathway
- Unlock — manually unlock a locked step (for steps that wait on practitioner approval)
When every step is completed or skipped, the enrolment automatically moves to Completed — there is no separate finish action.
If you linked the enrolment to a treatment goal, the goal's progress percentage updates as steps complete, and the link is shown on the enrolment card. :::
Pathways in AI Summaries and Session Prep
Your pre-session brief includes the client's current pathway progress. Pathway progress also feeds the AI client summary. Praxi does not recommend a pathway; you choose whether to enrol a client.
These are different features. Care Pathways (this page) delivers therapy content between sessions for your standard caseload. Pathway Programmes are mandated, compliance-reported intervention programmes (forensic rehabilitation, behaviour support) with milestone evidence and external reporting. :::
