Products & Inventory
Praxi includes a simple product and inventory management system for practices that sell therapeutic aids, books, assessment materials, or other items alongside clinical services.
Adding Products
- Navigate to Products in the sidebar
- Click Add Product
- Enter the product details:
- Name and description
- Category (e.g., Books, Assessment Materials, Therapeutic Aids)
- SKU (required)
- Price (GST-inclusive or exclusive, as per your tax settings)
- Current stock quantity
- Upload a product image (optional)
- Save
Products sold by healthcare practices are generally subject to GST (10%) as they are not GST-free health services. Praxi applies the correct tax treatment based on your BAS settings. :::
Stock Tracking
- Praxi tracks stock levels and decrements automatically when a product is sold
- Set a low stock threshold to receive a notification when stock is running low
- View current stock levels at Products > Stock Management
- Adjust stock manually for returns, write-offs, or stocktake corrections
- Bulk receive stock for multiple products at once (e.g., when a delivery arrives)
Selling Products
At Point of Sale
- Open the client's billing record or go to Billing > New Invoice
- Click Add Line Item > Product
- Select the product from the catalogue
- Set the quantity
- The product price and GST are applied automatically
- Process payment as usual (card, cash, EFTPOS)
During an Appointment
If a practitioner recommends a product during a session:
- Add the product to the appointment invoice
- The client can pay at reception after the session
- Stock is decremented upon payment
Product Categories
Organise products into categories for easier browsing:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Books | Self-help workbooks, psychoeducation materials |
| Assessment materials | Scoring sheets, test booklets |
| Therapeutic aids | Fidget tools, weighted blankets, sensory items |
| Stationery | Journals, planners |
Create and manage categories from within the Products module.
POS Integration
Products are fully integrated with Praxi's payment collection system:
- Stripe Terminal and Tyro EFTPOS both support product sales
- Product sales appear on invoices alongside service fees
- Receipts itemise products separately from clinical services
Who can manage products and inventory
Practice owners and practice managers can view the product catalogue, add and edit products, and adjust stock levels. Practitioners, receptionists, and other clinical and administrative staff can sell products by adding them to client invoices at point of sale or during appointments.
