Your Praxi desktop
Home brings your apps and live widgets together in one personal desktop. The bottom toolbar stays available when you open a page or a companion panel.
Three places to work
- Clinical brings together your schedule, tasks, session preparation and items needing attention.
- Practice helps with reception, appointments, messages, the waitlist and billing follow-up.
- Team brings together team availability, communication and professional development.
Choose a desktop at the top of Home. Your role determines the starting desktop and the apps and widgets you can use. Changing desktops does not change your practice or grant additional access.
Make it your own
Right-click the desktop to add widgets, app shortcuts or a sticky note. The library lists items available to you.
Widgets show real information and provide their own actions and settings. Drag a widget's header grip to rearrange it. Drag its bottom corner to resize it; with the resize corner focused, arrow keys change its size. Widgets fit to a grid so the layout stays tidy across screen sizes.
Use Tidy up grid in the desktop menu to arrange app shortcuts in columns, with widgets and notes alongside. You can undo the arrangement.
Removing a shortcut or widget does not delete records, tasks or the app itself. Changes save automatically. If saving fails, use Try again in the message. Each desktop has its own arrangement.
Desktop and toolbar
Drag an app from the Apps menu onto Home or onto the toolbar to keep it nearby. You can also drag a desktop app onto the toolbar.
Apps open their page. Utility shortcuts open a companion panel, such as Tasks or Messages. Sticky notes sit on the desktop. A page header offers Minimise to return to the desktop while keeping the page in the toolbar, and Close to remove its open-page shortcut. Pinned favourites remain. Save or cancel unsaved edits before using either control.
Top bar
The top right of every page holds the same controls:
- Privacy mode (the eye) blurs or hides client details on screen. See Privacy Mode.
- Where you are (the pin) records which location you are working at and whether colleagues can interrupt you. Choose a location, or Not at the practice. Set yourself Available, Busy (for 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours, or until you change it) or Away. Praxi marks you Away when you are idle and In a session while a calendar session is running. Colleagues see Busy and Away on the practice board and in team conversations.
- Notifications (the bell) shows the unread count and opens your notifications.
- Your account (your photo or initials) opens Settings (your profile, your own settings and practice settings), the practice switcher, Help and Sign out.
Where you are can also suggest the clinic you are at. Choose Suggest from this device's location and allow location access when your browser asks. Praxi compares your position with your practice's locations on your device and only suggests; you check in with one tap. Your position is not sent to Praxi.
Appearance
Open your account menu and choose Settings → Appearance. Choose a room atmosphere or plain background, daylight or evening lighting, and a glass or solid desktop surface. Reduce motion if you prefer a quieter experience. Your operating system's reduced-motion and reduced-transparency settings are also respected.
The desktop uses lightweight room artwork. Your apps and widgets remain flat, readable and usable with a keyboard or touchscreen.
