Privacy Mode
Privacy Mode lets you quickly blur or hide client information on screen — for shared offices, clinical supervision, telehealth screen-sharing, or any time someone might glance at your display. Turn it on with a keyboard shortcut or the eye button in the top bar, and it applies across the whole app, not just one page.
Turning it on and off
| How | Action |
|---|---|
| Keyboard shortcut | Press ⌘⇧H (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+H (Windows) to toggle. |
| Top bar button | Click the eye icon in the top bar to turn your default mode on or off. |
| Automatically | Optionally turn on when you sign in, or after a period of inactivity. |
When Privacy Mode is on, the eye in the top bar shows as crossed out and highlighted, so you can see it at a glance. On a phone, the top bar has no room for it: use the keyboard shortcut or Settings → Privacy mode.
The two modes
Blur
Client details are blurred on screen but you can still work normally. Hover over (or keyboard-focus) a blurred value to reveal it briefly — useful when you are the only one at your desk in a shared space. Hover-reveal can be turned off in settings.
Hide
The strongest option. Client names are reduced to initials where possible, everything else sensitive is blurred, nothing reveals on hover, and your browser tab stops showing the client's name. Best when a client is sitting beside you or you're sharing your screen.
The calendar
The calendar has its own privacy levels (Full details → Initials only → Appointment type only → Busy/available only) that you can set from the calendar toolbar. Turning on global Hide mode automatically falls the calendar back to at least initials, and hides blocked-time reasons — so you never have to set both.
Settings
Open Settings → Privacy Mode to choose:
- Default mode — what the shortcut and toggle turn on (Blur or Hide).
- Reveal on hover — whether hovering reveals a blurred value in Blur mode.
- Turn on when I sign in — start each session with Privacy Mode engaged.
- Turn on when idle — engage automatically after 1–15 minutes of inactivity.
What Privacy Mode does — and doesn't — do
Privacy Mode is on-screen privacy: it hides client information from people looking at your screen. It is not encryption or an access control, and it does not change what screen-reader software can read aloud. Content stays hidden when you print, so turn Privacy Mode off first if you need a printout.
For securing an unattended device, Praxi automatically locks your session after a period of inactivity, which requires your password to return.
