Working Offline
Praxi on the web is designed around a simple privacy principle: clinical data is never stored on your device. When your connection drops, the app stays open and tells you clearly — but client records, notes, and billing all require a live connection.
What Happens When You Go Offline
- An offline banner appears so you always know your connection state
- The app itself (its pages and layout) stays loaded — installing the PWA caches the application shell and static assets
- When your connection returns, the banner clears and you can pick up where you left off
By design, Praxi's web app never caches client records, clinical notes, or any health information on your device. This protects client privacy on shared or lost devices — there is no offline copy to secure.
What Requires a Connection
All data operations need a live connection on the web:
- Viewing and editing client records
- Creating and editing clinical notes
- Appointment changes and check-ins
- Billing, invoicing, and claiming
- AI features
If you lose connectivity mid-edit, keep the tab open — reconnect and save.
Working Offline on iPhone and iPad
The Praxi Practitioner iOS app offers genuine offline support with on-device encryption: it caches your upcoming schedule and recent client summaries for offline viewing, and note drafts created offline are queued and synchronised when connectivity returns. If you regularly work in areas with unreliable connectivity (home visits, rural travel), use the iOS app. See iOS Practitioner App.
Tips for Low-Connectivity Work
- Use the iOS app for planned offline work — it's built for it
- Install the PWA so the web app loads instantly when connectivity returns — see Browser Requirements
- Watch the banner — if it shows offline, don't compose long notes in the browser; draft in the iOS app or wait for reconnection
- Telehealth needs stable bandwidth — switch to phone if video degrades
