Supplement Protocols
Manage supplement and herbal prescriptions for your clients. Create protocols with specific products, dosages, and durations, then track adherence over time.
Supplement Protocols is available for practices with the feature enabled in their profession configuration. It is most commonly used by naturopaths, nutritionists, and integrative medicine practitioners. :::
Overview
A supplement protocol is a structured prescription of one or more supplements for a client. Each protocol tracks:
- Protocol name -- a descriptive label (e.g., "Iron Support Protocol")
- Client -- the client the protocol is prescribed to
- Status -- Active, Completed, On Hold, or Discontinued
- Items -- individual supplements with dosage and timing instructions
Creating a Protocol
- Navigate to Clinical > Supplements in the sidebar
- Click Create Protocol
- Select the client
- Give the protocol a Protocol Name, and optionally record the Condition / Indication, Practitioner Notes, and Evidence References
- Add supplement items with:
- Supplement name -- the product (e.g., "Vitamin D3")
- Dosage (e.g., "500mg")
- Frequency (e.g., "twice daily with meals")
- Duration (optional, e.g., "3 months")
- The protocol is created with Active status; items save one at a time, so a connection hiccup mid-way can be retried without losing the protocol

| Active | Currently prescribed and being followed |
| Completed | Programme finished as planned |
| On Hold | Temporarily paused |
| Discontinued | Stopped before completion |
Filtering and Search
Use the status filter tabs at the top of the page to view protocols by status. The search bar filters by protocol name or client name.
Integration with Clinical Notes
When writing session notes, you can reference active supplement protocols. This ensures your clinical documentation accurately reflects the client's current treatment plan.
