Clinical Settings
Clinical settings control the default behaviour of Praxi's clinical documentation features. Navigate to Settings > Clinical to access these options. Practice Owner role or equivalent permissions are required to make changes.
Note templates
Set the default note template applied when practitioners open a new note:
- Go to Settings > Clinical > Note Templates
- Set the default template — SOAP, DAP, BIRP, or Free-Text
- This default applies to all new notes unless overridden:
- Per appointment type — for example, BIRP for group sessions
- Per practitioner — individual preference set in the practitioner's profile
- Click Create Template to build a custom template (see AI-Assisted Note Templates)
Assessment configuration
Set defaults for clinical outcome measurements:
- Go to Settings > Clinical > Assessments
- Configure:
- Default initial assessments — instruments suggested for new clients (for example, PHQ-9, GAD-7, K-10)
- Progress monitoring schedule — recommended re-assessment frequency (for example, every 4 sessions)
- Critical item alerts — which items trigger safety alerts (for example, PHQ-9 Item 9 on suicidal ideation)
- Auto-score — toggle whether assessments are automatically scored on submission (recommended: on)
Consent templates
Manage practice-wide consent form templates:
- Go to Settings > Clinical > Consent Templates
- Review the system templates:
- Consent to Treatment — informed consent including your practice-specific information
- Privacy Notice — adapted to your data handling procedures
- Telehealth Consent — telehealth-specific terms
- Click Edit on any template to customise the wording for your practice
- Click Create Template to add practice-specific consent forms
Consent templates should be reviewed with your practice's legal adviser before deployment, particularly if you have made material changes to treatment conditions or data-handling practices.
Signing requirements
Configure note signing policies:
- Go to Settings > Clinical > Signing Requirements
- Set:
- Signing deadline — hours after a session before a note is flagged as overdue (default: 24 hours, aligned with AHPRA guidelines)
- Co-signing required — which roles require supervisor co-signing (typically Interns)
- Signing notifications — when and how practitioners are reminded about unsigned notes
Discharge safety
Supervisor approval for high-risk discharge requires a supervisor to approve discharging a client with a high-risk history. A client counts as high-risk if a practitioner recorded a risk assessment rated HIGH or IMMINENT in the past 12 months. Praxi's AI does not set or suggest risk ratings.
Tips
- Configure clinical defaults during practice setup to ensure consistency from day one
- The 24-hour signing deadline reflects AHPRA's record-keeping standards — adjust only if you have documented clinical reasons
- Practitioners can override practice defaults in their personal profile for individual preferences
