Medicare claims in Finance
Praxi is completing Services Australia conformance testing for Medicare Online Claiming. Production claiming becomes available once Services Australia grants the Notice of Integration (NOI). This page describes the workflow so your practice can prepare.
Finish Medicare setup before claiming. Until setup is ready, opening the Medicare app takes you to the setup wizard.
Open your Medicare claims
- Open Finance > Claims and choose Medicare. The Medicare app opens the same queue at /finance/claims?type=medicare once setup is ready.
- Search by client, invoice number or claim reference, or change the period and status filter.
- Select a claim to see its reference, invoice, practitioner, service date, amount and status.
Read the queue
| Group | Claim statuses |
|---|---|
| Needs action | Rejected or Not sent |
| Waiting | Sent or Approved |
| Paid | Paid |
| Cancelled | Cancelled |
Sent means the claim has been submitted; Approved is awaiting payment. Do not treat either as paid. A claim labelled Not sent still needs submission from its invoice.
Resolve a rejected claim
- Open the rejected claim under Needs action.
- Read Rejection reason, including the Services Australia code and returned message.
- Correct the underlying information. Use Medicare claiming errors for guidance.
- Use the available action to resubmit, bill the patient privately or open the invoice as appropriate.
Your Needs you list can also show rejected claims for your own invoices. Open the item to review the affected invoice; opening it alone does not resolve the rejection. Use Needs action in Finance to review the claims queue.
See Medicare reports when comparing assessments and payments with your records.
