Kiosk Mode

Praxi Kiosk Mode turns an iPad at your reception desk into a client self-check-in station. Clients can confirm their arrival and, if configured, complete outstanding intake forms or consent documents.

Setting Up a Kiosk

You need a tablet or iPad with a modern web browser, a stable Wi-Fi connection, and a secure stand or enclosure.

  1. Go to Settings > Kiosk Settings in the Praxi web app.
  2. Toggle Enable kiosk mode to on.
  3. Select the location this kiosk represents.
  4. Configure the options below and click Save.
  5. Open the kiosk URL on your reception tablet.
Guided Access

Enable Guided Access in iOS Settings > Accessibility to lock the iPad to the Praxi app and prevent clients from navigating away.

Check-In Flow

  1. Welcome screen -- Branded welcome message with your practice logo and custom welcome text.
  2. Identification -- Client identifies themselves using one of these methods:
    • Phone number -- Enter their mobile number
    • Name and date of birth -- Enter last name and DOB
    • QR code -- Scan a QR code from their appointment reminder
    • 6-digit code -- Enter a check-in code sent via SMS
  3. Appointment confirmation -- Displays the matching appointment(s); client confirms arrival.
  4. Outstanding forms -- If configured, prompts for pending intake forms or consent documents.
  5. Confirmation -- Displays a custom success message (e.g., "please take a seat"). The practitioner and receptionist are notified.

Privacy and Security

The kiosk does not display clinical information. After each check-in the screen clears automatically. No client data is cached on the device beyond the active check-in session. All data is encrypted in transit.

Heightened privacy

For practices in shared spaces, turn off Phone number lookup and Name and date of birth lookup in kiosk settings so clients identify themselves with their check-in code or QR code instead. This prevents other people in the waiting area from looking up appointments by phone number.
