Lodge an HW027 for each provider number
Praxi is completing Services Australia conformance testing for Medicare Online Claiming. Production claiming becomes available once Services Australia grants the Notice of Integration (NOI). This page describes the workflow so your practice can prepare.
Use this companion to HW027 for each provider number, step 4 of Set up Medicare on Praxi's PRODA path. You need one form for each practitioner's provider number at each location.
Check and lodge each form
- Finish Locations and Practitioners and provider numbers in the wizard.
- Select Download HW027 details to copy for the practitioner and location. This is a details sheet, not the official form.
- Open the official Services Australia HW027. The practitioner completes it, reads its terms and privacy notice, and signs and dates Q28 themself.
- Copy and check Q1–2 practitioner identity and provider number; Q12 Location ID; Q13–17 practice details or Q18–22 organisation details, as appropriate. Complete any missing title, given names, contact and postal details on the official form.
- For Q3, leave it blank on Praxi's PRODA path; use your practice's PRODA RA number on own PRODA. For Tyro, confirm its RA and Location ID instructions with Tyro.
- Check Q23 bank institution, BSB, account number and account holder. Confirm the account accepts EFT and is not exclusively used for NDIS funding. Select Medicare bulk bill and DVA payments at Q24. AIR setup (Q25–26) is outside this workflow.
- Unregistered providers also complete HW052, available from Services Australia forms.
- Return the signed official form using its current instructions. Keep a copy, then record Date lodged and I've lodged it in Praxi. Do not sign or lodge the Praxi details sheet.
HPOS cannot link your provider number to the Location ID. Lodging the official HW027 is separate from linking that Location ID in PRODA.
Continue while Services Australia processes the form
Check progress with Services Australia. Praxi shows Waiting on Services Australia; marking a form lodged does not make it ready for claiming. You can select Continue while we wait to complete the remaining preparation.
With Praxi's PRODA, Praxi links the Location ID on your behalf once the form clears and notifies you when its link is recorded. You then run the consenting-client check in Check and go live. A provider may show Linked, pending a patient check before it is active.
With your own PRODA, check that Services Australia processed the specific form, link the Location ID in your PRODA organisation and use Confirm processing and link. Follow Use your own PRODA.
Handle Tyro provider approval
The Tyro wizard skips Praxi's Location ID step but keeps the HW027 step. Lodge one HW027 for each provider number at each location using Tyro's Location ID, not a Praxi Location ID. Praxi doesn't store that ID, so write it on the form before signing. Mark it lodged; a missing form warns but doesn't block claiming, though Tyro may reject claims until Services Australia processes it. See Tyro setup.
Add another practitioner or location
Repeat the provider-number and HW027 steps for the new provider-location combination. A previously lodged form for someone else does not cover it. Check the current Services Australia instructions for any later change to your nominated bank account.
