Multi-site Medicare claiming

Certification in progress

Praxi is completing Services Australia conformance testing for Medicare Online Claiming. Production claiming becomes available once Services Australia grants the Notice of Integration (NOI). This page describes how the workflow operates so your practice can prepare; we will update it when certification completes.

Set up each claiming location separately. Practitioners at the same location share that location's ID, but each practitioner needs their own location-specific Medicare provider number.

Prepare each location

  1. Open Medicare setup.
  2. Use Locations to get a Location ID instantly for each site on Praxi's PRODA or your own PRODA.
  3. Add the provider number issued to each practitioner for that location.
  4. Download, sign and email one HW027 per provider number at each location, then record lodgement.
  5. Record your bulk billing agreement so it covers the Location IDs in your setup.
  6. Finish Check and go live with a consenting-client check at each linked location. Run another check when a provider link is pending.

Praxi links Location IDs on your behalf when you use Praxi's PRODA. When you use your own PRODA, you link them in your organisation and confirm the specific HW027 has been processed. See Use your own PRODA.

Check the claiming location

Before submitting, check that the service location and provider number match. Read any provider or location warning in the claim panel. If a new practitioner joins a location, add their provider number and complete their HW027 and activation steps before claiming for them.

Readiness at one location does not make every site ready. Return to setup to see which providers or locations are still waiting on Services Australia.

Use Tyro at your locations

Tyro handles provider approval and its own Location ID. The Tyro setup path skips Praxi's Location ID step, but each new provider number at each location still needs an HW027 using Tyro's Location ID. See Tyro setup.

Record DB4 consent before every bulk-billed claim at every location, including claims through Tyro.
